Legends: Story Of...
A downloadable game
Legends: Story Of...(Revised)
Hi! Thanks for coming and having a look at my page.
This is a revised edition of Legends: Story Of...
I originally created this solely as a solo journaling RP, but I've decided to add more to the system altogether. Now, I feel this game could still be used for journaling play, solo play, and GMless play.
In this game, you'll find a system for designing a character to your liking, working out and then playing not only a quest, but the journey to where the quest will take place.
You can begin this anywhere in your Legend's career. Maybe they are just starting out, or maybe they're already a grizzled veteran. Your legend may need to outmaneuver a pack of hunters that want them for dinner, or may come across fellow travelers who they can spend the night with in relative safety. They may find themselves approaching an old ruin, or may face a sharp climb in order to continue onwards.
Surviving the journey means the quest can begin. What will your Legend face? An enemy that must be killed? Are they to rescue someone or retrieve a stolen item? Maybe they're hired to explore a traditional dungeon or an abandoned town.
On the quests, the Legend may find traps, spells, enemies, secrets, and treasures.
Some ideas on how to make the climax more interesting are also offered for some of the quest types, along with ways you might be able to make things interesting for yourself when facing puzzles or traps beyond just dice rolls.
I've included a system involving dice (or dice app) and standard playing cards. With these tools, you can easily set up and play combat with a simple and quick combat and injury system. With the momentum feature, you can also adjust how quick and deadly combat can be.
While the system is mainly designed for solo play, and a Legend questing on their own, I have included some simple mechanics so this game can be played multiplayer, and/or party play.
This game is not designed to tell you what to do. You will draw a card, which will offer prompts and with those prompts you can work your Legend through the encounter as you see fit. Maybe you will simply write the encounter out as a journal player, or use dice rolls to work out combat, each combatant facing injury and death as skill levels and dice rolls dictate.
Since the game is now revised, I've increased the price. I hope you find it a fair price for the game offered :)
Also, you might be interested to know that I am working on a social and personality optional update. With this update, I hope to offer you a way to work out social interactions, a system for persuasion, giving you a reason to use those charisma and manipulation attributes and skills. This will also offer a way to add flavour to your encounters. A Legend who is angry and violent would handle encounters differently to one who was patient and cautious for example.
Another optional update I am working on is to develop a somewhat generic system for you to use while your Legend visits a settlement. I am looking to include prompts for settlement-based encounters and events.
Both of these updates will be included with the base game at no extra cost.
